"Selfie"

Inspired by Free People's newest September Catalog and their announcement of the #FPselfieedition, I figured I would embrace my inner self[ie] and throw together a look that is one of my fall favorites! I know there is a lot of negative vibes surrounding the whole "selfie" addiction that our generation has been bombarded with, but in all honesty I don't see anything wrong with taking a photo of yourself. In my perspective, we take selflies because we feel confident, inspired, and self-assured. Occasionally we gotta show ourselves some self-love, and hey, whats the problem with sharing that beauty with others?  Don't get me wrong, this is NOT a proclamation to become arrogant or big-headed. Instead, I think it is important to have self-appreciation and acceptance for our individual beauty. So take a selfie, have confidence, and just DO YOU… always.

"There is nothing more rare, nor more beautiful, than a woman being unapologetically herself; comfortable in her perfect imperfection. To me that is the true essence of beauty." -Steve Maraboli

Stop Waiting...

"I have always, essentially, been waiting. Waiting to become something else, waiting to be that person I always thought I was on the verge of becoming, waiting for that life I thought I would have. In my head, I was always one step away. In high school, I was biding my time until I could become the college version of myself, the one my mind could see so clearly. In college, the post-college “adult” person was always looming in front of me, smarter, stronger, more organized. Then the married person, then the person I’d become when we have kids. For twenty years, literally, I have waited to become the thin version of myself, because that’s when life will really begin.
And through all that waiting, here I am. My life is passing, day by day, and I am waiting for it to start. I am waiting for that time, that person, that event when my life will finally begin.

For me, life is what was happening while I was busy waiting for my big moment. I was ready for it and believed that the rest of my life would fade into the background, and that my big moment would carry me through life like a lifeboat.
Life is a collection of a million, billion moments, tiny little moments and choices, like a handful of luminous, glowing pearl. It takes so much time, and so much work, and those beads and moments are so small, and so much less fabulous and dramatic than the movies.

But this is what I’m finding, in glimpses and flashes: this is it. This is it, in the best possible way. That thing I’m waiting for, that adventure, that move-score-worthy experience unfolding gracefully. This is it. Normal, daily life ticking by on our streets and sidewalks, in our houses and apartments, in our beds and at our dinner tables, in our dreams and prayers and fights and secrets – this pedestrian life is the most precious thing any of use will ever experience.”

Shopaholic

It's no secret that every fashion guru has a strong urge to shop, and by strong I mean an uncontrollable addiction. So naturally we feed into this addiction and take advantage of as many sales, new arrivals, and deals that you could possibly imagine. Personally I really just love the feeling of receiving that big fat paycheck at the end of the week (very hard earned and deserved) and treating myself to something I have had my eye on. For today's post I just wanted to share an OOTD of some of the things I have recently picked up on my last shopping binge. You all know I love me some kimonos and of course I had to snag this sheer floral one for my collection. I also picked up a few dainty necklaces, an oversized  simple tee, and some shorts. So for all the shopaholics out there, don't worry because I am right there with ya! Oh and if you need a shopping buddy feel free to hit me up:) I am always available to shop! Thank youuuuuuu xoxo Kendall

Warped Tour '14

So big news everyone!! I finally popped my Warped Tour cherry! I have been looking forward to this weekend all summer anxiously awaiting this fun-filled adventure and being reunited with my Orlando BFF's. If you have never been to Warped Tour it is basically an all day music festival type concert filled with rock, alternative, metal, and pop-punk bands from across the country. This year some of the bands on the tour included Breathe Carolina, The Story So Far, We The Kings, Sleeping With Sirens, Issues, Yellowcard, and my all time fav Mayday Parade (just to name a few). I am so happy that I was able to spend time with my girls Devin and Laura in Orlando for a much needed girls weekend. I was pre-warned that it would be a hot one so I dressed accordingly in a crop top and shorts, and believe me I am so glad I did. Luckily the weather held up and we were able to enjoy some awesome music together. As always, stay tuned for more adventures and fashion inspo. xoxo Kendall

Sunshine and Soul Sisters

This past weekend I had the luxury of spending the day with one of my best friends in North Florida. For a late birthday gift I took her to the beach for a day filled with paddle boarding, relaxation and lots of laughter. Lately I have been realizing that as I grow older I won't have as many opportunities like these to spend time with my dear friends as we all venture out into the real world. So I have really been trying to cherish these moments as much as possible. Our day started of with an iced coffee run and ended by comparing our gnarly sunburns (oops..sorry mom!). Needless to say we definitely enjoyed some much needed fun in the sun. I hope you all had a great weekend as well:) xoxo Kendall

A Sunday in St. Augustine

Nothing is better than enjoying a beautiful Sunday exploring and creating lifelong memories! Some friends and I decided spur of the moment to ride over to the east coast to St. Augustine and enjoy the sunny day out and about. We had a blast hitting up the shops on Saint George street, relaxing by the water, exploring the Ripley's Believe It Or Not museum, and savoring some gelato from Rita's Italian Ice (my all-time fav!). I had so much fun on our little adventure and I am sure I will have many more to share with you all! Have a great week babes:)  xoxo Kendall

The Little Things

I know, I know it’s been too long!! I have finally found some time away from work to catch up and relax for a bit. It’s always nice to step back from our hectic lives and do things that make us happy even if it's just the little things! For me that includes sipping on iced coffee in the morning with my kitties, reading a good book, thrift shopping, and spending time with the people I love…to name a few. And of course I enjoy doing all of this in style! So here’s what you would probably find me wearing on a casual day off. I like to keep things fun, comfortable, but unique and this crochet skirt and tube top does just that! So if you’re reading this post let me know in the comments what you would be wearing on your ideal day off. I would love to get to know you too:)

Welcome Boho Babes!

I am so excited to finally share a little piece of me with you all! I have been planning on doing this blog for quite some time now and I can't explain how happy I am to be able to bring you along for this journey! As long as I can remember I have experimented with clothing and found excitement incorporating fun pieces into my ever-growing wardrobe. Clothing has been a way for me to express myself and feel comfortable and confident in my own skin. I am sure every girl out their has their fare share of insecurities and my goal for this blog is to inspire others to take risks, feel beautiful, and ultimately be yourself while still continuing to grow.

The significance behind the blog name has to do with two things; my style and my connection to butterflies. Although, my style is constantly evolving, much like a butterfly, I would say it could be described as vintage hippie meets boho rocker chic. You will most likely find me rockin’ anything that’s floral, flare, fringe, flowy, or just plain fabulous! As a child I loved catching caterpillars and watching them transform into beautiful butterflies. They represent our ability to change and grow as individuals but also they remind me not to take things so seriously. My hope for this blog is that, like a butterfly, I can grow and experiment with a free spirit and an open mind through my style, thoughts and adventures!
In honor of my first post I am wearing a winged kimono paired with a lace mini dress and some suede booties. Kimonos are quickly becoming one of my favorite things to throw on over a dress or casual outfit to spice things up. Plus they are SO comfortable and easy to wear. All the links are below to these fabulous pieces!
If you are reading this then I want to say thank you for taking the time to visit my page and showing an interest in knowing a little bit more about me:) I hope you have a wonderful week!

Xoxo Kendall
